This is my first blog in a long time. I apologise for not publishing a blog in the last 5 months. Because I haven’t posted a blog in a long time, I have a lot of things I need to say that have happened to me at school and outside of school. Before I start I want to say happy new year and I hope you had a fantastic christmas.
So I am in year 9 now which means a lot of things. Firstly, I have been writing blogs for three years now and I will carry on writing blogs. In year 8, we had sets for French, maths and science but in year 9 you still have sets for those subjects you had in year 8 but now you also have sets for English. I received my timetable at the start of the year and it said I would be in set 1 for maths, science and English! However, for now I am still in set 2 French. Every year you get new teachers for your subjects but this year I have some teachers I had in year 8. I don’t mind that because they are nice. Well some of them. But this year however, we have had lots of new teachers join our school because a lot of them left in year 8. Set 1 English this year has been ok so far this year with some excitement in some lessons. Maths has been quite fun mainly because of my teacher and how he’s quite nice. Science has been fun and this is because my teacher is nice and where I sit is good because I’m next to my friends.
On the other hand, French has been just boring. I say this because my teacher is strict. On the other hand, it’s the new year so who knows what new things will happen in my lessons.
I played a handful of sports last year. These sports were rugby, badminton, cricket and football which is outside of school. This year I still play badminton and it’s every Wednesday morning before school. I enjoy that a lot which is the reason why I wake up at 6:00 in the morning to get ready for it and go to it. I still play football outside of school and I am having fun. Having training during the week and matches on the weekend. Unfortunately, I stopped playing rugby and therefore I have made more time for studying.
Another important thing in year 9 is you picking your gcse options. Now I am completely sure when the deadline is but I think I have to make my final decision around the middle of february. In a week or two I have parents’ evening and during that the teachers will also recommend a certain type of subject to a student if he is excelling in that subject. E.g If you are doing well in science the teachers may tell you to do 3 sciences (physics, biology and chemistry) instead of you thinking of picking two. We have to pick 10 gcse’s and haven’t fully decided on what i want to do but so far this is what i am thinking of picking so far 3 sciences, 2 english, french, history, Rs,IT and maths. This may change depending on my teachers and myself.
The school trip that I am going to attend this year is called dover. You go in your forms to dover on coaches. You stay there for 4 nights and 5 days. Every day you do a different activity. For example, some of the activities my form and I will do are going to the cinema, archery, going on an inflatable water course, camping in tents and much more. I have so much more information to tell you and that will all be said in my next blog which will come out in the next week or so. I promise. Have a good day;)
