I’m trying to write blogs every week now and cover across different topics and this is what i have to write today. In this blog, I want to talk about dropshipping and how it has struck teenagers and older people such as myself to get involved with it.

Dropshipping is a retail method where an online store doesn’t keep its products in stock.Instead, when a customer makes an order, the store forwards it with payment to a dropshipping supplier(you). The supplier then ships the product to the customer. Dropshipping has been portrayed all over social media recently as something that can make you rich and guarantee you that your business will do well earning you lots of money. Is that true? Industry experts estimate that around 10-20% of dropshipping businesses succeed. This means there is a high chance your business won’t succeed. It is also portrayed as something really easy to start and lots of paying and planning isn’t needed. 

It states on the shopify website(one of the most popular websites to start dropshipping) you are able to get 3 days free but then you have to pay £1 per month to get started. This price may intrigue you and be cheap and you may want to carry on your business with the price being so low and you thinking you have a chance at making profit. But, throughout your business you might have to pay some small amounts there and there to really make your business get a good kick.

With the amount of drop shipping posts being on social media, only recently, many kids and adults had their thought to start a business with dropshipping. Many of my friends started a business with shopify however, it failed drastically. With all the hype around it, I wanted to start one. It looked so easy and a way to make money at such a young age and when I began to look into it properly, there are actually quite a few things you need to do first. Pay money, set up the whole business on your own and work out what to sell and how. What is funny is how all the big creators across social media make it look so good but don’t actually mention how hard and the time and money you have to put into this. They only show the result of what happened to them. For example, wearing fancy watches with the money they earned and living lavishly in big houses. Most of these videos are fake but they still gasped the attention of many and wanted to start their own business.

Finally, in my opinion, if you want to have a go at it, don’t let my opinion get in the way if you want to do it badly. It does take some effort to get it properly rolling but it’s up to you if you have the money and the time. That’s all from me and I’ll write another blog soon.
